Friday Miscellaneous

A Memorial for Clif Maloney

President Phil Becton announced during the Business Meeting a gift for Carolyn Maloney, widow of Clif, a scarf hand-made by his daughter-in-law. Phil also invited Virginia Maloney ’10, daughter of Clif, to attend the dinner and Business Meeting, at which the gift was formally announced and posthumous thanks were given to Clif for his heroic efforts at fund-raising. Following the dinner, Phil expressed in an email the Class’s thanks to Virginia for attending, as follows:

“Virginia

Really glad we were able to make contact on Friday night at Reunions. Your father did a tremendous amount of good work for the class, as you could hear from the response of his classmates.

You and your sister and mother will always be a real part of us. We wish you collectively and individually all the best.”

Virginia’s reply email acknowledged the invitation:

“Hi Mr. Becton,

Thank you for your email and for including a memorial to my father in the dinner. My family really appreciated your recognition of his work for the class. It was great to hear stories from fellow classmates about the above and beyond efforts at tracking down reluctant givers. My sister and mom both wish they could have been there. Thank you again for having me!

Best,
Virginia Maloney”
