Update from Class President Phil Becton, January 2009
Due to the unprecedented current economic turmoil and the upcoming annual giving drive for our 50th we have decided to suspend solicitations to enhance the endowment of the Sachs Scholarship. To those of you who have contributed or have made pledges, we extend our sincere thanks. We intend to revisit this after our 50th.
Our thanks go out to Rich McGlynn and Perry Hall who headed this effort.
While we will not be making solicitations, you may still make contributions and honor pledges by sending a check with the notation “Sachs 1960 Scholarship Endowment” to

A Message from Class President Phil Becton, October 2008
We are mounting an effort, headed by Rich McGlynn and Perry Hall, to enhance the endowment of the Daniel M. Sachs Class of 1960 Graduating Scholarship. The scholarship is the only thing at Princeton which bears our class numerals. In addition, it is one of the most coveted awards given to a Princeton senior.
Our intent is to increase the permanent endowment so that its income will be sufficient to support the scholars when the current support that we give the scholarship of nine to ten thousand dollars a year, raised in conjunction with our class dues, comes to an end.
The current Sachs Scholar alumni have pledged over $200,000 toward this effort. We’d like to at least match this amount from our classmates.
We do not intend to solicit the class as a whole, rather Rich and Perry will be reaching out to those classmates who have been supportive of the Sachs Scholarship in the past, asking for a special donation to the endowment. If you receive a solicitation, I hope you will be generous. If you do not, and would like to contribute, you may send a check with the notation “Sachs 1960 Scholarship Endowment” to
